Hey, I'm Mark — a proud Canadian, the creator of None to Run, and an RRCA Certified Distance Running Coach. I studied Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia.
I started None to Run over 15 years ago as a simple blog — a way to stay close to my passion for exercise science and healthy living. I never expected it to become what it is today.
If you've ever thought "I'm just not a runner," or you tried Couch to 5K and gave up two or three weeks in, you're exactly who I built this for. There's nothing wrong with you — most beginner plans just move faster than a new runner's body is ready for. None to Run is gentler on purpose.
My whole approach comes down to two things I'll remind you of often: progress slower than you think you need to, and be kind to yourself.
Today, None to Run has grown into a thriving community of runners and an iOS and Android app that's helped people all over the world start running safely, at a pace that actually sticks.
I'm the coach, but I don't do this alone. My co-founder Jeff leads the technical side — he's the one who turns the coaching into an app that works in your pocket, run after run. You can find Jeff on LinkedIn here.
Together with a small, dedicated team, we're focused on one thing: helping beginners become runners.

Beginners deserve advice that holds up. That's why we're currently working with Dr. Nicola Relph and Edge Hill University on a research study looking at how new runners get started with None to Run.
The study is underway now, and we hope to publish the results later in 2026. It's part of our commitment to keep improving how we help people take those first steps — grounded in evidence, not just good intentions.
None to Run has been featured in The New York Times, The Globe and Mail, CBC News, SELF, Canadian Running Magazine, The Times (London), Bustle, and more.
Our goal is simple: to help beginner runners get started safely and finally start to enjoy running.
