If couch to 5k is too hard - this is the plan for you! This has got me running after injuries and surgeries and starting all over building fitness! Great program and lots of support!

Couch to 5K doesn't have a real standalone Apple Watch app. If you've ever tried to leave your phone at home and just run with your watch, you've probably found that out the hard way.
That matters more than it sounds like. A lot of beginner runners want to keep things simple — watch on, phone left behind, just go. If your training plan can't do that, it's adding friction at the exact moment you're trying to build a habit.
None to Run was built as a true standalone Apple Watch app from the start. You get the full beginner, 5K, and 10K plans right on your wrist, with no requirement to carry your phone. Whether you're a first-time runner or you've tried Couch to 5K before and found it too aggressive, this is what the Apple Watch experience actually looks like with None to Run — and how to set it up.
None to Run’s Apple Watch app has become popular amongst the N2R community.
Probably the biggest benefit is that you have full access to every workout within the beginner, 5K and 10K plans AND you can leave your phone at home!
Want to wear a heart rate monitor? No problem!
With the None to Run Apple Watch app you can pair a Bluetooth heart rate monitor to keep tabs on your effort.
You can even listen to your music when you connect your Bluetooth headphones to your Apple Watch.

The app runs fully on-device, so your watch doesn't need your phone nearby to track a run. As long as you've got a cellular Apple Watch or you're running somewhere your watch can hold GPS on its own, you can leave the phone at home entirely. If you're using a Wi-Fi-only Apple Watch, keep your phone within Bluetooth range and it'll work the same way.
If you want more accurate effort tracking than your watch's built-in sensor, you can pair a Bluetooth chest strap or armband directly to your Apple Watch:
Once it's paired, None to Run will automatically pull heart rate data from the external monitor instead of your watch's wrist sensor for the rest of your runs.
Pair your Bluetooth headphones to your Apple Watch the same way you'd pair any Bluetooth device, then play whatever you'd like from your watch — Apple Music, a downloaded playlist, or a podcast app that supports offline watch playback. None to Run's voice cues will cut in over your audio when it's time to switch between walk and run intervals, so you don't have to watch the screen.
Every run you complete on your watch syncs back to the None to Run app on your phone, so you can review your pace, time, and progress through your plan afterward. You don't need to do anything manually — just open the app on your phone once you're back in range and it'll be there.
You're not locked into starting from week one. You can choose which week and day to start on directly from the watch, and adjust voice cue settings, right from your wrist — no need to dig through your phone first.
Do I need to bring my phone when I run with the Apple Watch app?
No. If you have a cellular Apple Watch, you can leave your phone at home and the app will still track your run. If your watch is Wi-Fi only, keep your phone nearby for GPS and connectivity.
Can I use AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones with the app?
Yes. Pair them to your Apple Watch like you would any Bluetooth device, and you'll hear None to Run's voice cues over whatever you're listening to.
Will it work with a chest strap or armband heart rate monitor?
Yes. Any Bluetooth heart rate monitor that pairs with your Apple Watch will feed data into None to Run automatically once it's connected.
What's the difference between this and just using Couch to 5K through Apple Fitness or the native Watch app?
Apple's built-in workout app can track a run, but it isn't a structured beginner running program — it won't tell you when to walk, when to run, or how to progress week to week. None to Run is a full standalone training plan built specifically for beginners, with the structure, strength training, and progression built in, not just a stopwatch.
Can I see my past runs on my phone after I finish?
Yes. Everything you complete on your watch syncs to the None to Run app on your phone automatically.

I’m an 82 year old woman who’s never run at any stage of my life. How I got to even think I might want to run is another story, but once I got the idea, & got under way, this app has supported & encouraged me (literally) step by step. The very gradual progression, the encouraging voices, the time signals to gauge where I’m up to, the visual layout recording the run, the fact it connects to my Apple Watch, & Strava (so I can easily gloat to my friends), the strength exercises in between runs, the useful links to different articles (like choosing running shoes), the parallel reminders about maintaining encouraging self-talk… There’s nothing I can think of that’s not to like about N2R!

After cancer surgery in June 2021 it was important for me to improve my overall health. I had used Couch to 5K in the past but after surgery I knew I needed something that was less aggressive and safer for my still healing body. With the blessing of my health care provider to start running, I decided to try the N2R app. N2R has been perfect for me so far. The app is intuitive. Works seamlessly with my Apple Watch and has progressed me from running 30 seconds at a time to 20 min. at a time in 10 weeks. I still have a couple more weeks to go, but I am looking forward to “graduating” to the 5K program, also included in the app, soon. The strength training does an excellent job of rounding out the workouts and supporting a healthy start to the running journey and the focus on time running rather than speed or distance has made staying motivated and not discouraged much easier.

Love this program. Couch to 5k programs weren’t realistic for me and led me to give up on them. The pace of this program is great. The app is easy to use and love that it works with any of my music or podcast apps playing. Just got an Apple Watch and love that it works well on there too!

Love this app ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
When you get this app, you also get an incredible, supportive community as well. The app itself is solid, with a Apple Watch app that works seamlessly. It’s great for anyone who just wants to start running or for those where traditional couch to 5k programs were too difficult. Layout is clean and easy to understand. Love this app.

Great standalone Apple Watch app ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Straight forward and simple to use. I love their Apple Watch app which works on cellular so you don’t have to carry your phone. The Watch app allows you to select which week and day you want to start on and lets you customize volume and toggle voice cues. 1000% better than Zenfit’s C25K watch app, which doesn’t let you do any of this. I also love that the overall app is straightforward with no bells and whistles.

Time is hard to come by. Kids, work, and other commitments can get in the way. You need a plan that's easy to follow and can work around you, not the other way around.

You look "weird" when you run. You’re “not” a runner. You’re too “slow” or too "Old." We're here to tell you right here, right now, that you’re wrong. You only *think* these things because it's new and you feel uncomfortable. That'll change with consistency and time. You are a runner!

It may have been hard previously, but it doesn't have to be – now, you'll be given the tools and the knowledge to succeed. We’re doing things differently in order to see different results.

Running when you aren't ready or without the proper training can hurt, leaving you with nagging injuries that never seem to clear up. We ease you in, giving you the strength and conditioning you need to make sure your running doesn't come with pain.
